IRS launches campaign to help new small businesses Last week, the IRS announced a campaign to educate new self-employed small business owners about their federal tax responsibilities and about filing Schedule C, Profit or Loss from Business. Our May 21 national phone forum, “Calling All First Time Schedule C Filers," will focus on helping new small businesses avoid common pitfalls. When registering online at the AT&T Teleconference Services Web site, make sure to use the correct conference access code. 2. Excise taxpayers now have more e-file options Form 720, Quarterly Federal Excise Tax Return, can now be e-filed with the IRS. The IRS now accepts two excise tax forms electronically, Form 720 and Form 2290, Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax Return. 3. Social Security tutorial introduces Business Services Online Social Security’s new online tutorial provides an introduction to Business Services Online. BSO offers step-by-step instructions for 10 business services available online, including:
4. Business.gov goes green for small business owners Business.gov has added content around environmental compliance, energy efficiency, and money saving tips for small business owners. The tax page highlights federal deductions and state incentives for small business owners who purchase energy efficient products as well as a savings calculator to determine how much money you can save by using energy efficient products. 5.
